The Meditation of a Godly Life.

The first Psalm continues in verse 2 to say. “...and in His law doth he meditate day and night.” A meditation is a present thought, it is the constant hum of your heart that tells others that you are alive. In a real sense it is our meditation that defines our lives. Our fruit will be distinguished by our meditation. The meditation is the treasure in our hearts that defines the value and the worth of the treasure. In the end, each of us will be defined by our meditation.
We find this truth in Colossians 3:16;
“Let the Words of Christ, in all their richness live in your hearts, and make you wise. Use His words to teach and counsel each other.”
How does this speak to the Psalm 1:1
“Blessed is the man who walketh not in the COUNSEL of the ungodly.”
In essence our meditation delimits the boundaries of our wisdom. The Words of Christ must become the profound meditation of our Heart. Why, because there is no Godly Wisdom apart from them. A person who professes a Godly life, absent the teachings of Christ and the Word of God in all of their richness must rethink his or her conclusion.
This is why David could say,
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14.
Ought not David’s prayer found in Psalm 19 be the prayer of every disciple of Jesus Christ. Yet it must be prayed with understanding that we are the sum total of our meditation unto God. And that God has directed, instructed and demonstrated for us what the true meditation of our heart must be to be deemed pleasing in His sight.
Our meditation must be on the Law of Christ, Love. We must live as though there is no other thing of value in our lives. Pause for a moment, what is the one thing that gives value to everyone and everything that you know and care anything about. Is it not LOVE in some degree?
