The Delight of a Godly Life.
Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 12:00AM Biblical Wisdom For Godly Living (Part 2)
What then is God telling us through the Psalm quoted earlier, particularly verse 2? We are called to delight in the Law of the Lord. Most people pursue with a passion their delights. Given the option of choosing between two things; something we simply enjoy or our greatest delight, we will always choose our delight. The Law of the Lord is the delight of the Godly person. Love is the consuming passion of the Godly man and woman. Jesus tells us, “For where your treasure is there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21.
How do I delight in the Law of the Lord? What do you prefer, Love that produces life for those around you, or your own interests that may be a detriment to those you profess to Love. The Godly life chooses Love, because the Love of God in Christ Jesus produces a harvest of righteous living. To live and to act in any other manner is to live as one who denies the surpassing value and power of the Love of God in Christ.
The Grace of God in Christ Jesus demands a response of gratitude that results in our delight in the Law of the Lord. The Grace of God is characterized by the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, which is the greatest expression of Love. John 15:13. This kind of Love, is the Law of The Lord. Our delight must be seen in every expression of Love in our lives and in His Church.
