The Blessing in Trusting God
Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 12:01AM The Truth About Grace (Part 5)
Trusting God produces His approval of you. Hebrews 11:39 Our faith is the only vehicle by which we can please God Hebrews 11:6. Trusting in the immutable, unchanging God is the threshold to His approval of the life that you have been saved to lead before Him. The power of trusting God is rooted in the Peace that it Trust affords.
If we revisit the Saints of Hebrews 11, we see a portrait of incredible strength in the face of blind uncertainty, rampant persecution and abuse. We see an inexpressible, indefinable strength and resolve that can only be borne out of a confidence and a certainty that God can be and therefore is worthy of being trusted. What is the common denominator of Trust between those in Chapter 11 who enjoyed what seems to be blessing and those who suffered because of their trust in God.
The answer is found in Romans 5:1ff
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this Grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope. And Hope maketh not ashamed; because the Love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
The true power of Trusting God is that it produces a peace or a perfect stillness as we encounter what life hands us. Trusting God will never disappoint, and we will never have to be ashamed of our Hope in Him. This is made true by God’s Grace. God has demonstrated His Will to restore us through His unilateral act of Grace in Jesus Christ’s Sacrifice. If indeed, God would do something as dramatic as die on the cross to redeem His enemies: why would we fail to trust Him to direct our lives and to bring us safely to the place of ultimate blessing in our present life and in the life to come.
We are confident in The God who raised Jesus; that He will carry us to the appointed place of blessing
that He has told us about in His word. Our Faith in God is Through Jesus Christ that produces in us the Will to Trust Him who made so great a sacrifice as this for us. Romans 5:6-11 solidifies this truth that we can and must Trust God with our present lives because He has already secured our life to come. And For certain, you and I will spend more time in eternity than in this mortal life.
